Spread the love

For a while I have been seeing these spray tie dye shirts being made all over the internet & knew I had to give them a try. I walked into my local Dollar Tree, where I found these super adorable wooden Halloween decorations, grabbed a few & set out to make some adorable shirts for myself & my daughter.

They were SO simple to create. I laid the shirts in the sun, placed the wooden cutouts on top of them, and sprayed a few times with a 50/50 mixture of Clorox bleach. They changed color immediately! You can leave them in the sun for a little while if your fabric isn’t bleaching as quickly or as much as you would like.

When you’ve reached your desired coloring, remove the wooden cutouts from the fabric, & toss into the washer! You will want to wash these separately as the excess bleach can ruin your other clothing items.

I would love to try this with different color shirts & designs. Unfortunately, my local Walmart only had black shirts. It ended up working out perfectly for these Halloween designs since the bleached areas turned orange!

Materials:

  • Plain T-Shirts
  • Wooden Halloween (or any other holiday) cut-outs
  • Spray bottle
  • Bleach
  • Water

Directions:

  1. Mix your bleach with equal parts water (1 cup bleach plus 1 cup water) in a spray bottle
  2. Lay your shirts in the sun.
  3. Place cutouts on shirt in whichever pattern/design you prefer
  4. Spray as heavily or as lightly as desired around cutouts. I recommend starting off lightly since you can always add more bleach, but you can’t remove it.
  5. Allow to sit a few minutes, until you reach desired coloring.
  6. Machine wash separately & let dry
